the image of God and human consciousness reflects the original being and consciousness from which it comes. Such language points towards or indicates a reality which our human mind reflects. But lest this should appear as a merely metaphysical concept of God, Michael emphasises how it is based on the Incarna tion in Christ.   The ontological union is a unity of distinguishable divine Persons with distinct names and relationships with each other. As stated in the Athanasian Creed, God is unity in trinity and trinity in unity. C.S. Lewis put it this way: God is tri-personal. We could also say that the unity of God is a triunity.

humanity (often called the doctrine of man), the doctrine of sin, the doctrines of Christ’s person and His saving work, and the application of salvation. We will have five topics: human beings, sin, the person of Christ, His work, and the way God actually causes His grace to . This is the good news that God purposes to set up on the earth, in fulfilment of the Davidic Covenant (2 Sam. vii. 16, and refs.) a kingdom, political, spiritual, Israelitish, universal, over which God’s Son, David’s heir, shall be King, and which shall be, for one thousand years, the manifestation of the righteousness of God in human affairs.

In Christ, God is tying together all of history. Moreover, through Christ, God is bringing together all things, uniting them according to his eternal purpose. Implicitly, apart from Christ, all things are disunited and dysfunctional. Through Christ, all things will be brought back into the unity God intended for them from the beginning. Let’s open our Bibles tonight, as we continue our study of the anatomy of the church, to Ephesians, chapter 4. We have been talking about the anatomy of the church, its skeleton, those things that g.

Mutual relation of the unity of God and the humanity of Christ, as doctrines of the gospel by John Kentish Download PDF EPUB FB2

In the second place, the relationship between God and humanity is understood as the relationship between redeemer and redeemed. Genesis goes on to explain that, in spite of their exalted place in creation, human beings reject the limited place God provides for them and sinfully seek to usurp the role of God.

Second, the study of humanity is a worthwhile pursuit because God has given revelation concerning humanity in Scripture. Biblical teaching on humanity, like all biblical teaching, is “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” and is part of that which equips us “for every good work” (2 Tim.

–17). “Through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians Ephesians That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:American King James Version ×, NIV).

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is about God’s. The new birth is the basis of our unity in Christ. Jesus compares this unity with that which exists between Him and the Father (John ): “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, ” Jesus and the Father are eternally one in their shared nature as God.

The teaching in God is the Gospel, especially the biblical exposition, is a form itself of seeing the glory of God in Christ. It is beholding Christ, and thus a means of being conformed to His likeness. By God’s grace, as I have gazed upon Christ through this book, I trust this ongoing transformation has been accelerated in my own life.

To embody God’s shalom is to embrace and restore the image of God in all humanity no matter who or where they are. Chapter by chapter Lisa Sharon Harper builds the case for reading, understanding, and living the gospel as the life-giving, freedom-bringing, shalom-infused reality it really is.

The expression “unity of the Spirit” clearly is a reference to the “unity” that is sought and initiated by the Holy Spirit—by means of his influence through the word of God (Ephesians ). Unity is a “state of oneness or of being in harmony and accord” (Danker et al.). The word is best defined by amicable actions.

Unity is good, because unity issues ultimately from God. As we grow to know and love God more, in His Word and His world, we will value unity as a form of good to be sought and maintained, even at great cost.

For reflection 1. Right where you are at the moment, how many different forms of unity in the creation can you observe. Are these good.

These doctrines err both in their view of humanity and in their view of Christ. Human beings are not potential deities; only one God—one being of the nature and power of the Creator—exists and will ever exist (Isa.

Rather, human beings are creatures made to reflect God’s character and purposes in this physical world (Gen. In short, it is gospel unity that has no earthly explanation.

In fact, a unity in church that is explainable through purely sociological factors, fails to display the inexplicable power of God. Therefore, we ought to strive for unity that only comes from God and only comes through gospel of Jesus Christ and prayer in the Spirit.

God created a world of unity, harmony, and peace. But this unity is not the same as uniformity. Rather, God delighted in creating diverse creatures, each according to its own kind. These creatures lived in unity and harmony under God’s rule, represented by God’s mandate to human beings made in his image (Gen.

Similarly he writes to Timothy, “For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” I Tim. Other passages do not stress the numerical unity of God as much as they do His uniqueness. This is the case in the well known words of Deut.

“Hear, O Israel; Jehovah our God. The Bible condemns any type of unity which is not founded in God's truth. The false gods of Unity sacrifice eternal truth for tolerance. This is a Mars Hill encounter without the Gospel being proclaimed. Paul said, “ the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to.

Note that the heart unity is grounded in the doctrinal unity of what views we have of God, and unified knowledge of the Son of God is the goal. Philippians ; — That I may hear of you that you stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.

Christ - Humanity 2 2. He identified himself as a man. • Matt “Man shall not live by bread alone.” • Jn “Now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth” 3. His birth - he was born of a woman. • Lk “he increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man” Heb “although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He.

The Gospel reveals what God is doing (God’s work). Therefore, it makes no demands on us except faith (Rom. The Law is the list of do’s and don’t’s (Exodus 20) The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for sins (1 Cor.

It contains grace and truth (John ) because the gospel is about Jesus. Promises. Atonement - Unity does not refer to Jesus Christ's atonement or sacrificial death on the cross for humanity's sin in its statement of beliefs.

Baptism - Baptism is a symbolic act, a mental and spiritual process in which the person aligns with the spirit of God. To a true child of God, the invisible bond that unites all believers to Christ is far more tender, and lasting, and precious; and, as we come to recognize and realize that we are all dwelling in one sphere of life in Him, we learn to look on every believer as our brother, in a sense that is infinitely higher than all human relationships.

3. And the apostle James expressed the same belief saying, "You believe that God is one. You do well" (James ). 4. The Christian creed was taken from these texts along with others in the Bible.

The Church has been avowing these beliefs for generations saying, "Truly we believe in. 3. For what purpose was humanity created? For God’s good pleasure. (God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. Genesis ) For us to be in relationship with God – that we might love and glorify Him.

(“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were. The God we serve is a God of unity who desires that His church live in unity and harmony built on the foundation that is Jesus Christ.

It is Jesus who draws us together and the power of the Holy Spirit that make our bond stronger.
